The Geneva Observer receives support from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) Geneva

The Geneva Observer is absolutely delighted to announce that the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) Geneva, one of the most established European political foundations, has spontaneously chosen to support our media.  The unsolicited support is earmarked to commission original pieces as well as strengthen The G|O’s biweekly briefings over the coming months. We are deeply grateful to KAS Geneva for its support.

“Initiatives such as The Geneva Observer can play a crucial role in providing a better understanding of the ecosystem of International Geneva. This can help to not only better understand the Geneva-based organizations but also increase support for values- and rules-based multilateralism." -Dr. Olaf Wientzek, KAS

The Geneva Observer will remain fully independent in its editorial choices and judgment. An independent media that can inform without being perceived as beholden to an outside editorial agenda is critically important and has always been our strong conviction. We see the KAS Geneva support as a validation of our mission to report on and analyze International Geneva through independent, fact-based, analytical journalism and selective content curation.

"What is happening in the numerous multilateral fora in Geneva is of key importance not only for experts and government officials but also for parliamentarians, civil society, social partners, and a wider public beyond Geneva,” says Dr. Olaf Wientzek, Director of Multilateral Dialogue Geneva for the KAS. “Initiatives such as The Geneva Observer can play a crucial role in providing a better understanding of the ecosystem of International Geneva. This can help to not only better understand the Geneva-based organizations but also increase support for a values- and rules-based multilateralism."

“Locally International,” operating at the intersection of journalism and academia, The Geneva Observer stands for collective accountability and institutional transparency. Our vision is to raise awareness about the importance of international cooperation and values-based multilateralism and foster a stronger, more transparent, more inclusive, and more accessible common conversation around International Geneva.

Journalism is not in decline. It is in transition. A period of profound disruption is now ceding way to a wave of creative reconstruction. In this context, support from foundations such as the KAS Geneva and others is essential to help these media ventures emerge. In the end, however, we believe that it is you, the reader, and you first, that will ensure the future of independent, sustainable, impact journalism. The KAS Geneva support will allow The Geneva Observer to grow further and, hopefully, find its right place in the Geneva press and media landscape. And so, from today on, “The Geneva Observer Briefing” is supported by the KAS Geneva.
